STAMFORD, Conn. — Stamford resident Arthur Augustyn [uh-GUS-tin] today officially announced his campaign for Mayor of Stamford, Connecticut. As a registered Republican sent back into time from the future, Augustyn pledged his campaign to save the City of Stamford from the antisocial nihilism that has robbed the city and its people.
“I’m from the future,” said Augustyn. “I’ve been sent back into time to save the City of Stamford from the antisocial nihilism that has robbed our city and our people.”

Augustyn is running on the campaign platform “The Future Is Brighter.” In his announcement video, Augustyn detailed the three core themes of the campaign:
- Pro-Social Conservatism. Pro-social views people as the most valuable resource in Stamford. Therefore city infrastructure and policies should be crafted to help people live and build in Stamford. Conservatism prioritizes conserving Stamford’s existing people, public spaces, and independence from national politics.
- Dismantling Institutions of Fear. A true and comprehensive revision of Stamford’s Charter will dismantle the existing Board of Representatives and enable the City to pursue solutions to the high cost of housing, prevalence of antisocial nihilism, and flat cultural development.
- Providing a Voice for the Disengaged. The campaign is committed to making political advocacy more accessible, political discussion more substantive, and political demonstrations more engaging. The style, substance, and goals of the campaign will grow Stamford’s politics beyond entrenched interest groups and dull talking points.
The campaign intends to release three deep dive policy videos on the topics of the Board of Representatives, prosocial policies, and conservative policies. All three videos will be released in the coming weeks before the end of May.
Historically, Augustyn has been unaffiliated with either major political party. He registered as a Democrat in 2016 — and again in 2020 — to vote during presidential primaries. Augustyn retained this party affiliation while working for current Mayor Caroline Simmons on her 2021 mayoral campaign as Deputy Campaign Manager. He re-registered as unaffiliated in 2022. Augustyn registered as a Republican in February 2024 and later wrote about his analysis of why a historic number of Connecticut citizens shifted rightward for the 2024 presidential election.
Augustyn previously worked at the City of Stamford as the Director of Communications for Mayor David Martin’s administration. In his position, he oversaw the modernization of Stamford’s municipal communications and all local communication strategies for the COVID-19 pandemic. Following his time at the City of Stamford, he served as a marketing and communications professional for various companies in Fairfield County and currently works as a consultant for AI Integration. Augustyn has written about the City of Stamford’s cultural challenges, and potential policies on energy, community building, dismantling the Board of Representatives, and defunding the local DEI department.
